A weekend in Åre
I took a spontaneous trip to Åre two weeks ago. It was really nice to get away from the city and meet the family for some quality time in the cottage. The snow was actually beyond my expectations! Fresh snow at the top and slush further down in the valley. At day two though, there was a big whiteout. Instead of facing the fog, Christine and I made vegan burgers on the barbeque down the valley and went to the aprés ski.
The view from our cottage is pretty!
Wearing a merino base layer from Kask
Merino base layers
I have partnered with Kask and got the opportunity to try out some base layers made of merino wool! As mentioned in previous posts, I haven’t been wearing functional clothes that much before. However, the more hikes I do, the more I understand why it is so much better to use good quality clothes. When I go touring, I get so sweaty! It doesn’t matter how cold it is, the sweat is inevitable. As soon as you stop, you immediately get cold. Wearing wet clothes that don’t dry quickly, can make your adventure very unpleasant and cold and therefore hard to enjoy your trip.
The merino base layers keep you warm and insulate while wicking the sweat away from the body. It cools you off when you’re hot, keeps you warm when it’s cold and dries quickly. I thought merino wool would be itchy on the skin, but these clothes were very soft and comfortable!
