Summer is finally here
Which means warmer temperatures and maybe a little less clothing. Generally, I think my skin is drier in winter than during summer but it’s in the summertime when I walk around with bare legs and therefore like to moisturize them a bit more. So I whipped together some homemade body butter before my summer vacation!
Body Butter with three ingredients
There is an overabundance of different DIY on Pinterest but what I liked with the one I made is that it contains few ingredients – shea butter, coconut oil and essential oil – plus it does not require much time and effort. You can mix it up with different essential oils or why not cinnamon and vanilla like I did for Christmas. Smells like cinnamon buns! Shea butter is usually not sold at your nearest supermarket but is available online, I ordered mine here.
The main benefit of making your own body butter is that you know exactly what is in it. Plus you know for sure that you aren’t putting any chemicals on your skin – which is bad both for your health and the environment.
1.5dl shea butter
1.5dl coconut oil
15 drops of essential oil (I used lavender)
Melt the butter and oil on low heat in a saucepan. Then pour the liquid into a bowl (preferably your mixing bowl if you have one) and put in the fridge until it starts to solidify. Then add the oil and whisk / mix for a minute or two. Put the mixture into a glass jar – on tip is to to reuse an old glass jar to save both on the environment and your wallet – and then you are done!
